Operations Officer with seagoing experience

As an Operations Officer, you are responsible for:

  • preparations of voyage instructions, stowage, lifting, cradle and lashing plans;
  • overall vessel’s operation;
  • communication with vessel’s Masters, owners/managers in relation to cargo handling & stowage, port operations, weather routing etc.;
  • Ship's stability, lashing, securing, engineering lifts and strength calculations;
  • preparation of the Cargo operations planning in conjunction with ship’s Masters, Cargo Superintendents, Loadmasters, Port Captains, agencies, stevedores and other parties involved.

Furthermore, in your work you will assist with;

  • vessel/voyage planning and scheduling, including deviations/delays, and assist with inquiry/offer response;
  • oversee all aspects of safe, efficient, and damage free cargo handling;
  • provide technical information about vessels and advice on cargo handling restrictions and various related issues;
  • Materials supply, fabrication planning and logistics;
  • track and report cargo damage and provide claims assistance.

Job requirements

  • You operate on higher education work and thinking level,
  • You are skilled with oversized and heavy cargo stowage, cargo stowage principles, and cargo handling gear on MPV, HLV, general cargo ships.
  • You have experience at sea in Senior Rank (Master or Chief Officer), preferably including heavy and oversized cargo operations.
  • Your experience in planning, loading, and securing of heavy and oversized cargoes serves as a recommendation.
  • Your experience with computerized stow plans and unique handling/stowage/securing options serves as a recommendation (especially AutoCAD experience)
  • You are flexible and motivated not just for the money, willing to learn new things and make the impossible possible
  • You are a team player with a 24/7 mentality.
  • You have an excellent command of the Dutch and English languages in verbally and in writing.
