The simulator allows seafarers to train crane, cargo and ballast operations under realistic conditions. Vessel motions caused by waves, currents, wind and lifting operations are simulated in real time, enabling crews to practise challenging scenarios together in a controlled environment.
In addition to crew training, the simulator can be used to prepare complex projects. Operational teams can carry out virtual dry runs before an operation takes place on board, allowing procedures and operational limits to be assessed in advance.
The Amsterdam facility is the second next-generation simulator developed for Spliethoff Group, following the opening of the simulator in Manila in December 2025. With dedicated training facilities in two key locations, Spliethoff Group continues to invest in the skills of its crews, the sharing of operational knowledge and the next generation of seafarers.
The new simulator further supports the safe and efficient preparation and execution of specialised operations across the Spliethoff Group fleet.
